Pepsi BaoBab Hitting the Store Shelves in Japan

Okay, when I heard about this, I thought, ‘Coo’! What’s a baobab? Hmm, this is getting to be educating for me. I know that there is a baobab tree, but I didn’t know that it actually has a fruit, and one that could flavor a drink!

I’ve done a bit of searching and to my surprise Baobab trees are common in Africa. Lol! This is just so like the Japanese to take a really extraordinary fruit to flavor its latest ‘weird drink’.

This is definitely making me curious specially since the Pepsi Baobab is now out in the Japanese market since since May 25th. Too bad, I couldn’t taste it here, but here’s one review you might want to read at Gigazine. They have actually tried the Pepsi Baobab so read it in case you want to give it a try..

One thing I liked on the offset – the labels. I love how they still featured the African landscape as backdrop, its like they are still going back to where the Baobab is from.

Malay Food: Nasi Lemak Special

One of my favorite Asian city is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mostly because, shopping there is superb. It’s a bit more expensive than Bangkok but there are times I really appreciate its less chaotic streets and modern transport system.

They also have a unique and vibrant culture. And its a melting pot of different Asian races, so its definitely a unique place to visit. And foremost among my reasons for liking this city is, their cuisine. I have several favorites and this one is among them..

this one is from an unnamed restaurant in Petaling Jaya, on our last trip to KL

Nasi Lemak..Though this is not exclusive to Malaysia and can also be found in Singapore, Brunei and some parts of Thailand. This is also known as the national dish of Malaysia. Though its usually found on the breakfast menu, its versatile enough for you to have it anytime of the day.

What’s in the usual Nasi lemak platter? Steamed rice (usually mixed with coconut cream) and flavored with pandan leaves, crispy dried anchovies (luv this!!), roasted peanuts, hard boiled egg, red spicy sauce (also known as sambal) plus the main viand – either chicken, beef, veggies etc..This is also usually packed in banana leaves but some restaurants now veer away from this practice..

If ever you’re in one of those countries I’ve mentioned, Nasi Lemak is really worth a try! Hmm, I’m actually craving for it now, thankfully, Phnom Penh (where I’m currently based) has a lot of Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants so this can be easily remedied, and my recommended place is Singapore Kitchen on #110 St. 360 Boeng Keng Kang area.

Angela Zhang at Pandora Vocal Concert, Shanghai

I’ve been trying to find a video of Taiwanese singer/actress Angela Zhang singing at the Pandora Vocal Concert in Shanghai. But no luck, yet! These costumes are really intriguing to say the least, so I wanted to see the video.

I guess we’ll just have to be contented to have a look at the photos first. I hope some vid will surface sometime soon..I kinda like her voice, its so emotive so I wanna hear what she sang on that concert..

Vogue Korea June 2010 Feat. Yoon Eun Hye, Gong Hyo Jin and Shin Se Kyung

Seriously. I’m getting hooked on these fabulously done fashion editorials of Asian magazines. Before, I thought only European mags are nicely done but now judging by what their Asian counterparts are churning out, they aren’t the only one’s making the mark..Fashion forward and manages still to capture that  quirky Asian style.
