Pink Chopsticks

Hello! Been awhile..I’m in the Philippines right now with two more weeks to go on my month long vacation. Truth is, I feel really weird coz I’ve been looking forward to this, in fact I could hardly wait for this vacation. I was looking forward to the time off, less blogging, less pressures, less housechores, but now that I got what I wanted I miss working!

Weird of me but yes I found myself itching to go back to full time blogging and writing. Right now I’m keeping busy visiting with old friends, checking out what’s the latest resto’s and hangouts here in Legazpi City and generally just being lazy.

I still have loads of errands to do but hopefully next week I could get everything done. Last week I bought myself a new netbook just for blogging when I need to be mobile. It’s a cute thing, an Asus EEEPC. So far, I’m convinced I picked the right one. I was torn between this and that really fab looking and feature loaded Samsung netbook, but the free portable dvd drive eventually made Asus the choice for me.=)

Arrived from Singapore last week, we stayed overnight in Manila then we took the next flight to Legazpi. We stayed in my parents house for two days for some much needed rest and catching up with family, then I flew back to Manila last Sunday, and now I’m stuck here because of bad weather.

I left Chinks with my parents coz she’s been travel weary already and I was planning to just be here for two days at most. I was just intending to do some shopping errands, buy a netbook for myself, barong cloth for my husband, vitamins and supplements for my dad, women’s vitamins for my mom and also to visit and see some close friends.

Had my ticket booked for a noon time Tuesday flight back to Legazpi but it must be my unlucky day since I heard on the news that a typhoon is heading straight for the Philippines. This is one of the things I took for granted in Phnom Penh!! Severe weather changes! And now I have a rescheduled flight back to Legazpi tomorrow, and hopefully I could get home already as I’m missing my daughter already.

It’s a headache here after a storm. No electricity, a lot of roads blocked or flooded. But I guess I just have to get by. Hmmm, this vacation is getting to be action packed.

Okay, I must admit I’m a fan. Sort of. I just like his style and of course the music. It’s edgy and very distinctive. And the official Solar album photos are just that. Very simplistic photo concept, but I find it very nice. I do wonder why all of them are profile photos?

Hmm, they probably want to focus all the attention on Taeyang.  Not that I’m complaining or his fans, I mean, would you complain with all those six packs on display? Whoa, he definitely doesn’t need to read any Clinicallix reviews with that superbly fit physique.

I’m cramming. Seriously. I have about a hundred things to do, a lot of blog posts to write, Acneticin review to research, errands to run and I just have three more hours to do all that. You see, I’ve mentioned a couple of posts back that I’ll be taking a long vacation and were already flying tomorrow! Yipee! Except that i still haven’t finished my packing..

Anyway, I’ll still be blogging and keeping my sites updated. Thank God for Wifi’s and mobile internets. By this time tomorrow were flying to Singapore for a much needed R and R and shopping. It’ll also be my bonding time with my daughter..

So, I’ll get on with the chores..

I was up early this morning, coz I had to finish hubby’s slide show presentation for a class. But typical me, I spent about an hour browsing for news and articles before I got down to it. I was checking out ChannelNewsAsia when I saw this lifestyle article that really got me interested – “Imported brides popular as money mixes Asian marriages”.

It is a well written article on a very interesting phenomenon going on. There’s no denying that its happening.

Asian men from rich countries such as Japan and South Korea are increasingly seeking brides from poorer ones like Vietnam and the Philippines — as economically liberated local women get picky.

Marriages between Japanese men and foreign women shot up 73 percent between 1995 and 2006, to 35,993, according to the latest government survey. Most of the women were Filipinas, followed by Chinese.

"Asian brides — notably Chinese and Filipina — remain popular in the countryside, where it’s quite hard to find young women," said Toshio Esaka, president of dating agency Royal in Osaka, western Japan.

Check out the article link for the full article. I am from the Philippines and now currently living here in Phnom Penh and I know some people who really go for this marriages. Most reason is to escape poverty especially in the provinces.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with inter-racial marriage, I’m prime example of it and no we didn’t meet through this dating agencies. We met in person while hubby was taking his postgraduate studies, we became good friends for sometime before we got serious. So we were in a perfectly normal courtship and relationship before we got married. But I must admit there was still that stigma attached to being a Filipina married to a foreigner. I’ve had various encounters where other people seemed to think of me as a mail order bride, and it used to raise hell with me but now I take it in stride. Hubby finds this really funny, coz he says I have far more money than him lol!

Back on the topic, I did say I see nothing wrong with these guys looking for brides elsewhere but girls should still be cautious as this can lead to some abuses if you don’t really know the person you are marrying. I have this belief that if you marry it should be to a person who considers you an equal and affords you the respect you deserve.

Just the same, I hope governments should do something to ensure the safety of these ladies who choose to go by this marriage route.

Get used to this.. me hunting for cool pink stuff, phones, gadgets, bling blings. After all, Pink Sushi is a pink lover . I was doing a search online for epson receipt printer and I find myself stumbling into some really cool tech blogs and ogling. I came across the SEMCblog featuring the Sony Ericsson’s Vivaz Smartphone in Pink!

Now this is one gadget I wanna get my hands on. It’s a beauty right? And since I’ve been a Sony Ericsson mobile phone user for the past three years I know how top notch the product is in terms of quality, technology not to mention that I love their phone camera resolution compared to other phones.

She’s multi-talented actress, author, and now director as she is making her full directorial debut with movie Magic. I must admit I didn’t really fancy her when I saw her in Boys Over Flowers, since IMHO her acting was a bit stale. But I must also admit she kinda grows on you and you’ll just be surprised you like her already. It does help that she’s talented and pretty to boot. I love her skin! Like most Korean actresses, they seem not to need any wrinkle cream to keep their skin so smooth like her but I know that’s all an illusion eh?

Anyway, Goo Hye Sun is featured on Sure magazine July issue. The photos are not that impressive though and here I was thinking Korean magazine editorials and photo shoots can now rival some of Europe’s best but this one disappoints. Just the same Goo Hye Sun’s fans would enjoy this..

After being caught in an almost avalanche of teasers and previews, the much awaited Taeyang comeback album has finally been released.  It includes thirteen tracks and features collaborations with various artists and producers. Taeyang’s scheduled comeback is today, July 1st on the Mnet M! Countdown stage.

At least this is a happy news vs the previous news I’ve posted about. In any case, I have to say I love this album cover! Classy and would look good on promotional materials like perhaps  promotional tote bags?

I’m still waiting for the album to be available here but in case some of my friends can get hold of a copy and give me one hehe, it’ll be great. I’ll have to content myself for now with these teasers..
