Japan Sand-Bathing Craze

They say its fast becoming a really popular form of therapy in Japan. Not sauna, not massage, but sand bathing! I was browsing through articles in ChannelNewsAsia when I came upon this. Interesting!

Sand Bathing

The sand nearby the sea in Kagoshima Prefecture is hot{think 50-85 degrees Celcius}. So its the perfect way to keep warm as well as get the health benefits.

Japan has a long tradition of steam bath and this can also be considered the same as you also get similar benefits like better circulation, easing shoulder and back aches, and it can also be good for the skin. It is believed that sand baths at Ibusuki are three to four times more effective than the average hot spring.

This I really want to try! That is, if I ever go there..
