Dripping…

Wet that is! I’m back here in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and the weather is not exactly horrible but it has been raining almost every afternoon till evenings for the past four days already. You know, I like this kind of weather, I am almost instantaneously lazy, and always curled up with a book, or watching a movie with steady streams of cookies and hot choco. Hmm, not a good idea for someone trying to lose weight..

How I wish it’ll be Oct-Nov-Dec already. During these months, its cool and dry here, just perfect to do a regular walkabout here in Phnom Penh. Or perhaps I should be somewhere else? Maybe Outer Banks homes has a lot better weather this time? Or perhaps not, shopping and food here in Phnom Penh is just awesome for me..

More later..

Quick Whatnot

A few more days before our vacation ends and I still have a few more things to do. I’ve got a lot of banking errands to do tommorow as well as health insurance quotes to review. I’m looking into some small investment options we could consider. At this point we want to build a stable nest egg that we intend to use when hubby and I are old and also I want to have a ready fund for my daughter when she reaches college level. And we intend to start early on.

A thing that concerns me most is that hubby is working in Phnom Penh Cambodia and there is still not much in terms of retirement benefits as well as health insurance. Knowing this limitation, we’d like to be ready for any eventuality. So though we are both working in Cambodia, my Philippine Social Security membership is still active and I’ll continue making my contributions. At least this way, I would have the security of having a pension when I reach the age of 60 as well as a whole lot of other benefits. It’s not much but its better than none.

Were also exploring other savings and investment options so while we could still work we could set aside funds when the time comes that we are both old and sickly already. I’m also hoping for continous improvement in Cambodia’s retirement and insurance benefits so at least my husband’s life work would have at least some returns.

Welcome to PinkChopsticks!

Hello! Ni hao! Konnichiwa! Chao! Mabuhay!

I’m PinkSushi and welcome to Pinkchopsticks! This blog is all about living, exploring and celebrating all things Asian. Why Asia? I am an Asian. I was born and raised in the Philippines and now I’m living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I am proudly Asian.

Traveling around different Asian countries made me realize just how unique and diverse Asia is. Not only in geography and natural environment, but also in people, languages, culture and traditions, lifestyle and more.

Asia is the world’s largest continent and covers about 30% of the worlds total land area. Asians make up about 3/5 of the world’s population with more than 4 billion people. So what could be better than exploring the richness in culture and diversity of the Asian region?

I’ll be making regular updates on Asian culture and traditions, trivia, fun finds, travel and places, cuisine, lifestyle, technology and innovation, latest news, well just about anything Asian.

As for the site name – Pinkchopsticks, Pink, because well I’m a girl and I love pink. Chopsticks, I asked several people what are the first words that come up to their minds when they hear the word Asia, and I got several answers of: chopsticks! Hence the name Pinkchopsticks. I’ll also be using the penname PinkSushi.Hmmn, obviously, I love Japanese sushi..

Thanks for visiting this site and hope you stick around and visit again. I’d really appreciate it if you can drop me a comment or a suggestion on how I could improve the site as well as topic suggestions. Do get regular updates from Pinkchopsticks, subscribe to my feed..
