Indian’s clamor for the world’s cheapest car
Tata Motors have unveiled Nano, touted as the world’s cheapest car, a few weeks ago. And with that short time, the Nano, has been seeing a surging demand with the company recieving more than 200,000 fully paid orders.
The company have collected about 25 billion rupees (US$500) until April 25, when booking for the Nano car closed. In a statement, Tata Motors said that, “The bookings are double the alloted number of cars for delivery.” It has alloted 100,000 cars in the first phase of deliveries.
Despite the global slump in car sales, Tata Motors is positive of the strong demand for the US$2000 priced Nano car which is expected to be on the road in July of this year.
The Nano is a two-cylinder 624 cc car, with four-doors, can carry up to five people but not much room for luggage. Described as a “safe, affordable, all-weather form of transport” for Indian families.
